What is the Cobas 8800 system?
The Cobas 8800 system performs fully automated, real-time PCR analysis. It is used to research Papillomavirus, Chlamydia trachomatis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, HIV-1, Hepatitis B and C viruses, Cytomegalovirus, Epstein-Barr virus, among many others.
This equipment combines several state-of-the-art technological features in a single integrated workflow, including reagent management, extraction, pipetting, and detection. As a result, it is possible to standardize and automate the workflow, making it faster and more efficient, from sample processing to result validation.
How it works
The Cobas 8800 system requires no sorting or batching of samples, no reagent preparation, and no manual set up of runs. Once the sample tubes are in place, Cobas 8800 extracts the sample, adds reagents, amplifies the extracted nucleic acids before finally interpreting and processing results.
Capabilities and benefits
The Cobas 8800 has many laboratory and clinical benefits, including:
• Greater efficiency. Full automation increases result sensitivity and productivity;
• Accurate results. The system eliminates the risk of cross-contamination and, therefore, of false positives;
• Reproducible results. An internal calibration and quality control procedure ensures excellent results;
• Fast results. The system produces 200 results per hour, with the possibility of performing up to 3 different tests simultaneously.
