Vascular Surgery Screenings at Cascais Medical Clinic on January 26th

On the upcoming Friday, January 26th, Joaquim Chaves Saúde will promote and conduct a Vascular Surgery screening event at the Cascais Medical Clinic from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

The screening will be performed by a vascular surgeon who will conduct an echo-Doppler on the lower limbs and provide a brief consultation on the subject. Appointments will be accepted for a maximum of 20 people during the 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM period, and there will be a dedicated office and ultrasound machine exclusively available for the screening.

An echo-Doppler, or Doppler ultrasound, is a sophisticated medical imaging technique that provides real-time information about blood flow in the body's vessels. It is an advanced form of traditional ultrasound that not only visualizes structures but also assesses the movement and speed of blood through arteries and veins.

This technique is particularly useful in diagnosing diseases related to blood flow. For example, it can detect blockages, vessel narrowing, or abnormalities in blood flow that may indicate issues such as blood clots or vascular diseases. The process involves applying a transducer to the skin, which sends high-frequency sound waves into the body. These waves detect moving blood cells and return to the device, which interprets these echoes to produce visual data. The resulting images and graphs can show whether blood is flowing smoothly or if there are potential issues.

Echo-Doppler is non-invasive, painless, and does not involve radiation, making it a safe and effective diagnostic tool for a variety of vascular and cardiac conditions. It is an essential tool in modern medicine, both for diagnosis and the ongoing management of individuals with cardiovascular diseases.
